The per diem system provides equitable daily support for meals, lodging, and essential expenses, affirming the Initiative’s commitment to care and consistency for those serving away from home. Staff are expected to follow approved travel routes, maintain accurate documentation, and uphold the Initiative’s values of stewardship and readiness while representing the organization in transit. Every trip under Travel Operations reflects shared responsibility and trust in the mission we carry together.

Policy

Travel Operations administers a system (like per diem). that supports staff who travel on behalf of the There and Back Initiative. Per diem is a daily, fixed‑rate allowance intended to cover meals, lodging, and essential incidental expenses while away from a home property or assigned worksite. This system ensures equitable treatment across all staff, simplifies reimbursement, and maintains transparent stewardship of organizational resources. Purchses of non aligned material is not reimbursable or chargeable to There and Back. Those items are considered personal.

Guidelines

  • Eligibility — applies to approved work travel authorized through Travel Operations. Staff must receive travel approval before departure.
    • Approve/agreed upon for initiative orient trips. No duplicate support provided.
  • Agreed upon budget. There two components for the budget.
  • Receipts are needed, not for versification, but for record keeping.
  • As There and Back matures, a company expense program will be pursued.
